Al Wajbah produced a gorgeous chestnut filly by Chatanz on a bright April morning, 2010, the first foal she has given us at Gadebrook. Her previous five for Umm Qarn are all winning on the race course or youngsters in training in the Middle East.

Both Chatanz and Al Wajbah are AHS Premium horses, so Wahiba will be eligible for Premium awards once she is old enough to race, then compete in endurance. With her long legs and happy attitude, she could succeed in both. Her pedigree contains some of the finest and most successful racing blood from Russia and Poland.

This nick is particularly important to us. Many years ago, Wajbah's sire, our Premium stallion Sambist, beat Chatelaine, the dam of Chatanz, by a length in the UK Long Distance Championship over 2 miles 7 furlongs at Goodwood. Once Chatelaine retired to stud, she was due to be covered by Sambist by AI, but a pregnancy never materialised - hence the importance of the mating one generation further on.

This chestnut filly's name is chosen in honour of the golden Wahiba Sands in Oman, venue of the excellent 2009 WAHO Conference, in Arab it means "gifted".

Wahiba's sire Chatanz is one of the finest all-round performance stallions at stud in Britain. As well as being a Grade 1A Arab racehorse with 6 wins and over 20 placings, he is a Grade 1 NaStA Performance Tested stallion, a frequent winner of the "Endurance Sire of the Year" Trophy, and a former Endurance GB National Champion.

Chatanz represented Britain in the 2002 Endurance Team at Intermediate level and comes from a long line of racing and endurance winners.
